Hell yes. We did it. So can you.
Every Monday used signal the start of a new diet. I’d wake up with determination to follow my diet perfectly and workout intensely only to fall apart by mid week and start over again come the following Monday. I believed if I just had more willpower and determination I could finally stick with a plan. I continued this cycle for over ten years. Ironically, only after I gave up on dieting did I finally began to experience lasting change. Incrementally over the course of the past eight years I have refined my habits focusing less on perfection and more on consistency even through two additional pregnancies . Following the same principals we’ve built into Balance365, I am stronger, healthier, and happier.
I went on my first diet at age 12. By age 18 I had gotten committed enough (re: obsessive enough) to reach my goal of the elusive ‘size 0’, a size that was below healthy or sustainable for me. When I got there I still wasn’t happy with my body. When your worth is tied to your size, nothing is ever enough. I was never thin enough, never perfect enough. Eventually, even obsessing over food and exercise couldn’t keep me at that size.
My body rebelled hard. I spent the next 2 years reactively bingeing, and I gained 14 sizes. Through my professional training, mentors, and my own trial and error, I learned exactly how to eat and move in a way that would support both my physical and mental health, and help me find a healthy weight for my body. The program I made for myself is now the core of Balance365, and it has not only helped me, Annie, and Jen, but countless other women (and their families) as well!
If you’re looking for a program that’s going to help you live below a weight that’s healthy for you… You’ll have to keep looking, because this isn’t that program. My “before and after” photo is +20lbs. It was terrifying for me to let go of the unhealthy thoughts and behaviours that I used to stay at a level of leanness that was unsustainable for me, but today I’m healthier and happier in every way - mentally, emotionally, physically. She has over 8 years of experience helping women reach their potential in the fitness industry and thousands of "man hours" in the weight room. Her certifications include Level 1 Russian Kettlebell Club (RKC), United States Olympic Weightlifting (USAWL), Wellness Coaching and lots of experience using motivational interviewing techniques. Annie is passionate about helping women reach their strength and conditioning goals.
Jen is a certified personal trainer with an emphasis on women’s health, and mom of 3 boys.
Her experience with and explorations into dieting and female psychology and body image inspired her to write Diet Deprogramming when she realized the impact of mindset on sustainable weight loss. She loves helping women finally see that they can achieve their weight loss goals without crazy diets and extreme measures.
Lauren is a habit based nutrition coach and mom to one girl and a baby boy. After finding her way to the other side of her own 10-year battle with disordered eating and body image issues, she is 100% committed to helping women ditch diets and explore nutrition from an evidence-based perspective. The program is designed to work in a specific order so we STRONGLY suggest starting with Diet Deprogramming & Core Values, and then moving into the Balance365® Habits. You have some wiggle room within the habits, so feel free to jump around as you see fit!
There’s no right answer to this question as we’re all different - mentally, emotionally, and physically. The great news is, this isn't a race, nor is there a final destination. It's about overcoming the obstacles in your individual life, changing your mindset, and adopting new habits to guide your relationship with food.
The progress you make as you change your daily habits will depend greatly on the time you have to commit and other unique circumstances in your life. Yes! Though we don’t suggest you actively try to lose weight while pregnant, working through Diet Deprogramming and the Core Values would be a great first step towards ditching diets and working towards a new way of life. The Balance365® Habits we introduce for weight loss are designed to help you live a healthier life, so feel free to practice the principles, but we advise you to consult your doctor and follow their guidance regarding any type of weight loss goals.
There is NO failing in this program. There are no strict diet rules, no foods off limits, no falling off the wagon. We teach you how to use our proven habits and mold them to fit into YOUR life. Everyone’s day, season of life, priorities, and schedules look different. We don’t expect you to follow the same eating plan as everyone else.
